Obituary

Mr. Willie Raymond Silver, son of the late Johnnie and Sadie Allen Silver, was born on October 10, 1921 in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, January 12, 2007 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Four brothers preceded him in death, Johnnie, Herman, Henry and Dee; one son preceded him in death Willie Tyrone Silver, and one sister, Geneva Silver.
He joined the St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age and served on the Usher Board under the pastor ship of Rev. Frank L. Bullock. He was a faithful member until he relocated to Brooklyn, New York. While in Brooklyn, he joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Curtis Whitney. Due to health failure, he returned home to live and joined the First Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. Alvin B. Harmon. He was employed at Temple Sholom of Flatbush in Brooklyn, New York for a number of years.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Mary Kersey of Brooklyn, New York, and Chicmaine Williams (Marvin) of Enfield, North Carolina; two sons Willie Lyons (Beatrice) of New Carrollton, Maryland, and Larry Pittman of Bennettsville, South Carolina. One goddaughter, Jonicia Cambridge of Brooklyn, New York; thirteen grandchildren: Terrence, Latik, Latrell, Trevon, Marquis, Tanesha, Sheila, Benita, Carolyn, Peggy, Tonya, Keisha, and Sean; eighteen great grandchildren, one daughter in law, Connie Crump of Rosedale, New York; four sisters, Hattie L. Silver, Victoria Howington, Dorothy Marshall, and Laura M. Cousar all of Enfield, North Carolina, one sister in law Naomi Silver of Enfield, North Carolina. Three devoted nieces Betty Pittman (Calvin), Doris Arrington (Johnnie), and Edna Williams all of Enfield, North Carolina; two devoted nephews; Darrell Marshall and Travis Howington (Peanut), both of Enfield, North Carolina. A very close friend, Vernell Whitaker of Brooklyn, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
