Obituary

Mr. William A. Arrington, Jr., 84, was born on January 16, 1939 to the late Arthur and Serena Smith Arrington in Enfield, North Carolina. He entered into heaven at his home in Stafford, Virginia on Friday, August 11, 2023.

At an early age, William accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at Daniels Chapel Baptist Church in Enfield, NC. William was the youngest of six children. He completed his secondary education at Eastman High School in Enfield, NC, a graduate of the Class of 1957. He attended Winston-Salem State University for one year, then relocated to Brooklyn New York.

On June 26, 1966, William and Doris Marie Lowe were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union one son was born.

William worked as a truck driver and retired from R.G. Trucking Company in Union, New Jersey. He was one of the best drivers in New York. He loved being with family and visiting the elderely. He was a friend to all he met. He could hold a conversation with anyone! After retirement, he relocated to Stafford, VA and joined Little Forest Baptist Church. He became a dedicated deacon, a true servant from the heart. He also served in the following ministries, Menis, Outreach, Music, and Seasoned Saints. He loved basketball, football, baseball, and wrestling.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his siblings, Luther N. Arrington, Calvert L. Arrington, Clyde A. "Bobbie" Wall, Albunyer "Bunnie" Arrington, and Vera A. Shivers.

Cherishing William's happy memory are his wife of 57 years, Doris Marie of the home; one son, Marcus Godwin Arrington (Sandra); one grandson, Aaron Godwin; 10 nieces; six nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; six sisters-in-law, Velma L. Williams (Herbert) of Winnabow, NC, Willema L. Hardy of Alexandria, VA, Carol L. Pickett of Suitland, MD, Rita L. Reese of Ft. Washington, MD, Leona Lowe of Waldorf MD, and Jennette Farmer of Durham, NC; brother-in-law, Garland Price of Upper Marlboro, MD; a great number of cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Lea and Pope Funeral Home, 203 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina.  A Public Viewing was held one hour prior to the funeral service, from 12:00 pm -  l:00 pm. Burial followed the service in the Lowe Family Cemetery,1489 Draper Road, Enfield, North Carolina. Arrangements were handled by Lea and Pope Funeral Home, Enfield, North Carolina.
