Thurman Richardson, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Born to Kelly and Florine Richardson on June 14, 1946 in Halifax County, North Carolina, Thurman lived a life filled with simple pleasures, hard work, and a deep dedication to the people and hobbies he loved.

Thurman received his education from the Halifax County Public School System. He met and married Mamie Fenner and to ths union five children were born. He joined Ivory Hill Baptist Church at an early age and remained an active member until his transition. His life’s work was in construction as a dry wall finisher.

A man who found his greatest joy in the greater outdoors, Thurman loved nothing more than spending a quiet morning fishing on the waters or running his beloved dogs through the woods. Above all, Thurman cherished family time, creating lasting memories during gatherings filled with laughter and stories.

In addition to his parents, Kelly and Florine Richardson, Thurman was preceded in death by his brother, Kelly Mack Richardson; a sister, Pearlie Richardson; and his beloved son, Kelvin Richardson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mamie Richardson of the home; three children, Victor Richardson (Mary) of Raleigh, NC, Crystal Pullen of Rocky Mount, NC, and Thurman Richardson, Jr. (Kathy) of Durham, NC; ten grandchildren, Victor Conyers of Rocky Mount, NC, Ebony ZayZay, (Yigby) of Charlotte, NC, Garry R. Pullen, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Maudquise Ingram of Rocky Mount, NC, Jazzy Murphy of Dunn, NC, Mya Richardson of Durham, NC, Wesley Richardson of Durham, NC, Kevin Richardson of Enfield, NC, Kendall Coppage of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Dominic Hilliard of Enfield, NC; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lenora Richardson and Mary Ann Macon; one aunt, Eva Richardson; four sisters-in-law, Cinderella Richardson, Melvinie Lewis, Julia Joyner, and Mary Bellamy (Vance); a brother-in-law, John Fenner (Carol); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Thurman’s warmth, kind spirit, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Ivory Hill Baptist Church, 4505 Medoc Mountain Road, Enfield, North Carolina. A public visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm. Burial was in the Ivory Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
