Summer
Sweet
April 24, 1945 – September 5, 2024
MRS. SUMMER "CONNIE" JO SWEET was born on April 24, 1945, in Guilford County, North Carolina, to the late Eula Bell Sweet. Her life's journey came to an end on September 5, 2024.
Mrs. Sweet attended public schools in Halifax County and earned both her Bachelor of Arts and several Master's degrees in Teaching from North Carolina Central University.
After completing college, Mrs. Sweet dedicated her career to teaching, working with students from special education to gifted programs in several states. She wore many hats, from being a girls' basketball coach to driving a school bus. Her students adored her, and she excelled in every role she took on. Her true passion was education, and she poured her heart into shaping the lives of the young people she taught. After over 33 years of faithful service, she retired, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Trecia "Tracy" Jackson, of Hampton Roads, Virginia; one granddaughter, Tazmara Jackson, of Newport News, Virginia; one grandson, Devon Jackson, of Baltimore, Maryland; and one precious great-grandson, Kyrie Jackson; and a host of relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Lea and Pope Funeral Home, 215 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina. Arrangements were handled by Lea and Pope Funeral Home, Enfield, North Carolina. Send condolences to www.leapopefuneralhome.com.
