THE OBITUARY

Roy McGee, son of the late Joe and Carrie Pittman McGee was bom on February 11, 1929 in Halifax County, NC. He transitioned from earthly life to his heavenly home on Saturday August 27, 2011 at Nash General Hospital. He was the last of eleven children. Roy was educated in the Halifax County School System. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Louise Pierce McGee and to this union ten children were Bom. They remained happily married until her death on March 26, 1979. "Papa Smurf as he was affectionaly called was an avid farmer. He spent many years working untiringly on the farm until being employed by Quality Forest until his retirement. Roy accepted Christ in his youth and a remained a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for 72 years. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are; ten children: Sadie M. Sykes (Roosevelt) of Enfield, NC, Barbara J. Lockett of Rocky Mount, NC, Elvira McGee Earl (Jerome) Patterson, NJ, Deloris Rudd (Jesse) of Whitakers NC, Gloria A. Richardson (Wayne) of Seaboard, NC, Edward McGee( Peggy) of Rocky Mount, NC , Louise Maryland of Rocky Mount, NC, Wayne McGee (Evelyn) of Goldrock, NC, Roy B. McGee (Letitia) of Lucama, NC, Tammy McGee of New Port News VA; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; two sister-laws Bumice Crawford, Mary Lee-Powell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
