Obituary

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. "
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

A Time To Be Born:

Rosetta Branch Bullock was born in Northampton County, North Carolina on October 12, 1921 to the union of the late Mary Alice and Anthony Branch. She confessed her faith at an early age.

A Time To Love:

She loved and cared for her late husband, Deacon William H. Bullock, until his death on September 1 1 , 2000. At that time they had been married over 65 years. To this happy union were born nine children. She adored her children, grandchildren, and all family members. She was always telling everyone to follow the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Her husband and one daughter, Bertha B. Fields, preceded her in death.

A Time To Learn:

Mrs. Bullock attended Halifax Public Schools. Even with a limited education, she was full of wisdom. Therefore, she later decided to further her knowledge at the local community college. By doing this, she diligently worked to make sure all nine children were able to graduate from high school and further their education through college or trade school.

A Time To Serve:

As a child, she joined Tillery Chapel Baptist Church in Tillery, North Carolina, then later joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Edmonds. She sang in the choir and served on the Usher and Deaconess Boards.

A Time To Laugh:

Mrs. Bullock loved to sing. In her 80's she started to attend the Roanoke Valley Adult Day Center in Weldon, North Carolina. She joined the choir and the Bible study group, and became known as the "keeper of the piano". She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Before her health started to fail, you could find her at her sewing machine, in the backyard working, and singing in her vegetable and flower garden. She lovingly made quilts for the neighborhood and made sure that her children and grandchildren had a quilt of their own.

A Time For Peace:

She was a faithful and active member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church until her health started to decline. She did not give up. She sought comfort in knowing that the Lord was always at her side. She maintained a positive attitude and continued to give everyone she saw or met that beautiful smile until the Lord sent an angel to take her to her new home on Thursday morning, September 17, 2009.

A Time To Mourn:

Cherishing her memory are five sons: Reverend James Harvey (Gail), Charles Leon (Blondell), William Earl, Clinton (Jessie) and Frank (Mona); a nephew, whom she claimed as a son: William Harvey (Julia); three daughters: Rosemarie (Leon), Irene, and Mary; one brother: Charlie: three brothers-in-law: Paul, Reverend Floyd, and Steve;, five sisters-in-law: twelve granddaughters; twelve grandsons; great-grand¬daughters; great-grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
