Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday February 12, 2020 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 6734 Thirteen Bridges Road, Enfield, NC.
Burial will be in Enfield Memorial Cemetery, Enfield, NC.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Lea & Pope Funeral Home Chapel in Enfield, NC.
Obituary
Roosevelt Sykes, Son of Lola Hardy Sykes and the late Sandy Sykes Sr, was born February 5, 1950 in Northampton County, NorthCarolina.
Upon confession of his faith in Christ, he became a member of Roanoke Salem Baptist Church at an early age.
His education was received through the Northampton county school system and a graduate from Gumberry High School in 1968.
After graduating from high school, he became a member of the Armed Forces from 1968-1971. Upon returning home, he became employed at the Whitakers Knitting Mill and worked as a correctional officer at the Caledonia Prison in Tillery for a number of years. He was a member of Solid Rock Masonic Lodge #177.
Peacefully, his journey with life ended on Monday February 3, 2020 at Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center.
He is preceded in death by his father Sandy Sykes Sr., and one brother Sandy Sykes Jr. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 33 years, Sadie McGee Sykes, and his daughter, Alana Nicole Sykes, his mother Lola Sykes, one sister Lola Sykes Ausby (Nathaniel), two brothers William Sykes(Jean)and McKinley Sykes(Jackie) all of Garysburg, NC, six sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws, aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
