Richard Lee Green was born on April 17, 1930 in Franklin County, North Carolina to the late Walter Richard Green and Mary Bell Crews Green, who
preceded him in death. He departed this life and entered into God's Care on January 3, 2010 at his home in Enfield, North Carolina.

Richard joined the Springfield Baptist Church at an early age and attended until his health prevented him from attending.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Essie Mae Hawkins. To this union, nine children were born: Mary Nicholson (Oliver) of Brooklyn, NY, Emma Green Perry of the home, Enfield, NC, James Richard Green (Maggie) of Raleigh, NC, Evangeline Green of Enfield, NC, Clementine Green of Enfield, NC, Shirley Green Short (Frank) of Brooklyn, NY, Joe Lewis Green (Brenda) of Raleigh, NC, and Jerry Lewis Green, who preceded him in death, and Teresa Green Buie and husband, Walter (deceased). He had eight sisters and brothers, two preceded him in death, Walter and Chris Green and surviving are: David Lee Green, Mary A. Green Conyers (Robert), Ruellen Whitaker, Ann Green, Carolyn Green Parker (Michael), and Ray Green; two brothers-in-law: William and Joe Hawkins; two sisters-in-law: Leonia Arlington and Annie Deloatch; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special friends: Frank Garrett and Bernice Daniels; and many other relatives and friends.
