Peyton Alexander Mitchell was born September 28th, 2008 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC to Shavon Mitchell. Early December 7th, Peyton spent his final time surrounded by family and friends that had touched his life in some small way throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

Peyton's life would seem too short to many, but some flames burn so bright that God decided his job was done in just two months. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

With his courage he has led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours rocking in his favorite chair while cuddling close to those he loved so much. Although we will miss him everyday, especially his winning smile, he will forever remain in our hearts.

Peyton leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Shavon Mitchell, sister-Paris Mitchell, maternal grandparents- Stanley & Shirley Mitchell, maternal great-grandparents- Geraldine Horton, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Keith, two uncles- Shemiah Mitchell and Ron Mitchell, eight great aunts, five great uncles, six great-great aunts, one great-great uncle and a host of relatives and friends.

We also want to recognize some of those whom Peyton touched in a very special way. Some of them are: Pastor Larry and Carol Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin McCrae, Mr. and Mrs. David Privette, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Fisher, Dr. Immacula St. Louis and Family, Shenitta N. Rochelle-Jacobs (Julian), Aviance Burton-McCray and Family, Whitnee Corprew, Teresa Dozier, Latisha Boyd, L'Oreal Walters, Mirrishia Watson, and Valencia Watson.
