Obituary

Paul Delano James, aka PJ, graduated peacefully from his earthly life on April 1, 2010 to be with the Lord. Paul was surrounded by his family who shared in his transition to eternal flight.

He was very jovial, had a good sense of humor, and a generosity of spirit that endeared him to many people. Paul was happy, had a passion for fishing and enjoyed riding to the rural area to chat with friends and enjoy nature.

He was the son of the late Peter and Ella Mae James. Paul was born on May 29, 1935 in Hobgood, North Carolina. He graduated from Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, North Carolina where he served as a Basileus of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He honorably served in the United States Air Force as an air crew Flight Communication Specialist. He received a Master's Degree in the field of education from North Carolina Central University, Durham, North Carolina.

Paul wore many hats and touched many lives. He served as a Math Teacher, Basketball Coach, School Bus Coordinator, and Assistant Principal with the Halifax County School System for thirty years. He also volunteered for the Enfield Meals-on-Wheels program.

Paul's passion for life continues to live through his dedicated wife: Joyce Jordan James of 47 years; his children: Vickie Scott (David), Antonio James (Rehnna), and Paula Richardson (Michael); his grandchildren: Da'Nija Scott, Staff Sgt. Paul Anthony James (Evelyn), who is currently serving in southern Afghanistan, Christopher James, Anton Jefferson, Antonette Jefferson, Ahkea Scott, Michael Richardson, Tiffany James and Nicholas Richardson; two great-grandchildren: Da'Nija, Jr. and Ta'Niya Scott; his sister: Sophia Walden (Wilbur); Bo-Bo James, his loving, singing canine companion for seven years; and his very devoted nephews, nieces, relatives, and many, many friends.

Condolences are Welcomed!
