Nyque'vius Ladell Speight (Quay) was born to Christie Jones and Wendell Speight on September 25, 1997 and departed this life on Sunday, September 17, 2023
Nyque'vius attended Halifax County Schools and graduated from Northwest-Halifax High School with the class of 2015. At an early age, he joined the Ivory Hill Baptist Church.
Quay, as he was affectionately called, was employed with McLane Carolina in Battleboro, North Carolina for four years. He recently started working with LS Cables in Tarboro, North Carolina. In his leisure, Quay enjoyed riding ATV'S, swimming, playing sports and spending quality time with family.
Quay was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Pattie Jones; grandmother, Boyce Dozier; and two uncles, Cornelius Jones and Rodney Dozier.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mom, Christie Jones of the home; father, Wendell Speight of Rocky Mount, NC; six sisters, Kristen Pulley of the home, Chantekia McGee of Whitakers, NC, Janise Speight, Shantikiya Speight, and Takiya Speight, all of Rocky Mount, NC, Shyonica Speight of Chicago, Il; two brothers, Jahmiyes Howard and Christian Conyers of Rocky Mount, NC; grandmother, Deloris Speight; grandfathers, Allen Williams and James Lane; an aunt, Charity Pitchford; two uncles, Travis Pitchford (Keturah) and Brandon Lane; three nieces, Cailee, Cassidey, and Aliyah; four nephews, Christian, Zyiere, Jamyus, and Legacy; a special cousin, Raquevius Williams; six great uncles; two great-great uncles; a special shout out to the "Bros in the Woes" which is what Quay called his homies, Keyonte Rosser, Tae Watson, DaQuan Johnson, Kaelan Jones and Lakedrick Jones; and a host of cousins, other family and friends. Quay was a gentle, kind and humble young man. His affectionate smile will be everlasting and forever engraved in our hearts.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Ivory Hill Baptist Church, 4505 Medoc Mountain Road, Enfield, North Carolina. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A Public Viewing was held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the chapel of Lea and Pope Funeral Home 215 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina.
