Obituary

Mrs. Mollie Bet Macon Mills, the daughter of the late Fletcher and Adell Mills was born on November 20, 1936 in Halifax County, North Carolina. She departed her earthly life on May 2, 2024 at Scotland House in Scotland Neck, North Carolina.

Mollie received her education in the Halifax County Public School System. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Ivory Hill Baptist Church and remained a member until her demise. She was married to the love of her life, Bud Macon, on October 6, 1952. To this union seven children were born.

During Mollie's life journey, she enjoyed cooking, riding, working in her flower garden, going to the stockyard, eating and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Fletcher and Adell Mills, Mollie was preceded in death by three children, Kenneth Macon, Vera Macon, and Pernell Macon; three sisters, Hattie Silver, Louise Yates, and Vera Evans; and two brothers, Willie Mills, and Bunch McWilliams.

Mollie's life will forever be cherished by her daughter, Evangeline Lynch (Anthony) of Whitakers, NC; three sons, Willie Macon (Lena) of Enfield, NC, Ricky Macon of Hollister, NC, and Jerry Macon (Sabrina) of Whitakers, NC; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Pearl McGee, Lillie Macon, and Dorothy Macon, all of Enfield, NC; one brother-in-law, Henry Macon (Arlean) of Enfield, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Ivory Hill Baptist Church, 4505 Medoc Mountain Road, Enfield, North Carolina. Burial followed in the church cemetery.  A Walk-through Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 7, 2023 in the Lea and Pope Funeral Home Chapel, 215 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina, from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Arrangements were handled by Lea and Pope Funeral Home, Enfield, North Carolina. Send condolences to www.leapopefuneralhome.com.
