"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted. "
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, Minnie Copeland Solomon was called to eternal rest at 2:44 a.m. at Guardian Care in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Her journey in life began on June 3, 1915 when she was born to the late Robert Zebedee and Sylester Scott Jones Copeland in Halifax County, Enfield, North Carolina.
Her educational experiences were received in the Halifax County School System. To enable her to further her education beyond the elementary level, her parents supported others in the community to purchase a bus for transportation to Eastman High School. Other than academics, she was considered a star basketball player and earned the nickname "Minnie the Moochie", during her tenure there.
She joined Daniels Chapel Baptist Church in her early teens which began her religious experiences in growth and service. For several years, she represented the Sunday as a Delegate for the Sunday School Convention, among other youth activities. Later, she served as Sunday School Teacher, Missionary Circle Member and Secretary, Choir Member, and on the Mother Board until her health prevented further service.
On April 21, 1934, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late William Thomas Solomon and to this union ten children were born.
Preceding her in death, other than her husband, are three sons: Stanley, William and Winton (Jimmy); two granddaughters; a daughter-in-law: Phyllis Solomon; siblings and in-laws.
