Marjorie Wade Bailey, affectionately known as "Margie," the oldest child of the late Russell Lee Wade Sr. and Mildred Adell Wade was born in Halifax, North Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on September 12, 2025 at UNC Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
She joined Crowells Baptist Church and Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and recently joined Greater Joy North Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Margie had a quick wit about her and had a variety of interests which included sewing, singing in the Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Senior choir, planting flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed holidays with family and watching Hallmark movies and the cooking channel. Anyone that knew Margie knew she adored Monica aka "Baby-Girl" and Justin aka "Grandson" and was so proud of both of them.
Margie graduated from Brawley High School and furthered her education at Durham Business College where she received an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science. Margie began her career at New York University "NYU" and American Express in New York. After returning to Halifax County, Margie was employed at Choanoke Area Development Association "CADA" in Rich Square North Carolina. She later joined Abbott Laboratories in Rocky Mount, North Carolina as Department Secretary for 22 years. After retirement, Margie chose not to fully retire and worked part time with the Halifax County Council on Aging in various capacities.
Margie married the late Stainton Anderson of Queens, New York. To this union a beautiful baby girl was born "Monica". She later married Clarence Bailey of Littleton, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her brothers Russell L. Wade Jr., "Bubba," and Norman Wade.
Margie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted daughter, Monica (Wendell) and her FAVORITE grandson, Justin; her sisters, Judy, Vera, and Gwen; her sister-in-law, Reta; her nephews, Steve (Carlicia) and Russell III "Tres" (Sharita); her niece, Adell (James); her great- nieces, Kayla, Traci, and Malani; her great-nephews, Malachi, Micah, and Russell IV "Ivee". She also leaves fond memories to a host of cousins, "including Kim," other relatives and supportive friends.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Greater Joy North Church, 1711 E. Tenth Street, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Burial was in the Smith Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 15831 US Highway 301, Enfield, North Carolina. A Public Viewing was held on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the chapel of Lea and Pope Funeral Home, 215 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina.
