Obituary

Margaret Ann Whitaker, daughter of the late Charles Whitaker and Margaret Ellen Boiling, was born on January 6, 1939 in Enfield, North Carolina where she resided until transitioning into eternity. Margaret was the second oldest of ten children; three children preceded her in death: one sister: Arbeatrice, and two brothers: Clarence and Jesse. She also had two half siblings, one of whom preceded her in death, Joan Hammond.

She accepted Christ at a young age, and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she served for many years.

Margaret received her education from the Inborden Elementary and High School. She later went on to receive a degree as a Nurse's Aide.
She was a single parent, raising three boys, Keith, Ronald, and Donald. Later in her life, she met and was united in marriage to the late James Whitaker, who added to the union ten stepchildren.

Margaret was a very caring, nurturing, and compassionate person. She made it her mission in life to try to help and accommodate anyone she encountered. She would do whatever she could to make them happy and show them that they had at least one friend - her.

Those left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory are three sons: Keith, Ronald (Diane), and Donald; ten stepchildren: Lorraine Whitaker, Ethel Edwards, Carolyn Turnage, Rosa Lyons, Evelyn Coats, Calvin Whitaker, Michael Whitaker, Tony Whitaker, James Whitaker, Jr., and Ernest Washington; five sisters: Alice Dixon, Geneva Lynch, and Ruth Wilcox (Clarence) of Boston, MA, Evelyn Douglas of Michigan City, IN, and Vivian Whitaker (Reginald) of Rocky Mount, NC; one brother: Charles Whitaker (Machelle) of Nashville, NC; one half-brother: Frankie White of Queens Village, NY; three grandchildren: Crystal, Ashley, and Michael; 35 step-grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Condolences are welcome!
