Obituary

Mable Lene Arrington Johnson Harrison was the fifth child born to Dandy and Rozenna Arrington on April 14,1920 in Enfield, North Carolina.

Mable was the family "educator" serving as a teacher for 38 years - she was the first family member to attend college graduating with honors from Winston Salem State University. Later receiving her Masters degree in Education from Antioch University in Pennsylvania. When she retired in 1983 her 5th grade students composed a beautiful poem entitled "Quiet Strength".

Mable willingly dedicated her life to Jehovah in 1958 at the international convention in New York, NY. Because of her love for Jehovah and others, she spent many hours telling others about the hope of everlasting life in the promise paradise serving as a full time minister for 18 years. Mable was first married to Jethro Johnson and to this union had 2 step sons, Jethro Jr. and Gerald. Later she married David Harrison and to this union had 3 step daughters - Joan, Jean, Joyce and 2 step sons - David Jr. and Jerome.

Mable was known for her loving-kindness, patience, generosity, hospitality and graciousness. Her openhandedness was evident throughout her life, whether helping to raise a niece or nephew or assisting others no matter what they needed she could always be counted upon. She was also famous for her jams and preserves and good southern cooking.

Mable fell asleep in death on March 18, 2009. She will be truly missed by all those whose lives she enriched. She is survived by one sister: Joyce Williams of Patterson, NJ; one brother: Orvis Arrington of Enfield, NC; 7 step children; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and close friends.
