The Obituary


Lucy Agertha Hedgepeth was born in Halifax County, North Carolina on May 23, 1921 to the late Charlie and Mamie Hedgepeth. Jehovah in his wise providence summoned the soul of our loved one on November 15, 2010 to that land of peace and rest.

Lucy was kind and considerate and greeted you with a kind and genuine "SMILE".

She will be greatly missed by her son: Foster Berry Hedgepeth of Alexandria, VA. Lucy leaves to celebrate her homegoing, two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters: Edna Hughes of Enfield, NC, Bernice Sweet of Rocky Mount, NC and Clara Nicholson of Maryland; brothers: Johnnie Hedgepeth of Halifax, NC and George Hedgepeth (Bernice) of Enfield, NC; one brother-in-law: Nathaniel Coley of Maryland; one sister-in-law: Queen Hedgepeth of Enfield, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

As a message from my mother, her dearest and loving Bonnie Dale Jenkins was like a guiding light from a lighthouse standing there for her 24/7. "Bonnie, you stood strong with open arms to embrace me with love and support. THANK YOU!"

Friends are those who never lose
The feelings that they grow, Intimate and sharing, and caring as they go. Friends are those who love 'til time is here no more
And never have to say.good-bye
Because that's what friends are for.
