Lillie Bell Reid, beloved daughter of the late Elizabeth Thompson Whitaker and William Thompson, Sr., was born on June 19, 1942 in Halifax County, North
Carolina. She departed this life suddenly on August 25, 2009 at Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Bronx, New York.
Lillie was educated at Eastman High School, where she graduated in 1961. She lived in New York for 49 years and retired from New York Life Insurance Co. after 30 years of service. Lillie enjoyed her retirement and loved being with her family and attending family gatherings. She also enjoyed being with her friends as she pursued her passion for playing games of chances, such as poker and the slot machine. She was always ready for an all night session.
It broke our hearts to lose her, but she didn't go alone, for part of us went with her the day God called her home. She will truly be missed.
Lillie leaves to cherish her memories, her sons: Rodney Thompson of Bronx, NY, and Curley Reid, Sr. (Dawn) of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren: Curley, Christopher, Caprice, Jessica, Celina and Cierra; three sisters: Marie Benton (Willie), and Beverly Whitaker, both of Enfield, NC, and Linda Silver (Rudolph) of Bronx, NY; two brothers: William Thompson, Jr. (Mona) of Enfield, NC, and Larry Thompson (Robersenia) of Durham, NC; two aunts: Ida Price of Enfield, NC and Weezie Davis of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Condolences are welcomed!
