God saw the road was getting rough.
The hills were hard to climb. He gently closed those loving eyes And whispered "Peace Be Thine. "
Junius Lee Hill, who was affectionately called, "Winky" and son of the late Queen Esther Whitaker, was born on March 13, 1943 in Halifax, North Carolina. On July 18, 2010, God told Winky his worked here on earth had been done and it was time to go to his heavenly home.
Winky was educated in the Halifax County Public School Systems.
At an early age Winky, accepted Christ as his personal Savior and served as a faithful servant at Union Baptist Church in Bailey, North Carolina until his health began to fail.
For the last 28 years, Winky dedicated himself to his lifetime soulmate, his wonderful wife, Betty Jean Hill.
Winky was a hard worker and he enjoyed life and the laughter that came with it. He loved his family, but most of all he loved the Lord.
Winky was preceded in death by his brother, Ezzell Whitaker.
Those left to cherish Winky's sweet memory are, his wife: Betty Jean Hill of Bailey, NC; two brothers: Eddie Davis (Josephine) of Baltimore, MD and Bud Albert Whitaker (Priscilla) of Enfield, NC; one sister: Doretha Williams (George) of Scotland Neck, NC; and also Doretha's sister: Jannie Burnett (David) of Enfield, NC; one aunt: Annie Mae Powell (Morris) of Baltimore, MD; a special friend: Howard Pittman of Enfield, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
