Joseph Cooper, Sr., son of the late Irene Cooper-Bell and Nathaniel Cooper, and step-father, Jack Bell, was born May 26, 1943 in Halifax County, North Carolina.
He was united in marriage to Ollie Jean Lynch-Cooper for forty-three years.
Joseph was employed for many years with H.I. Cotton Movers. He used his God-given talent of working as a mechanic for many years. Joseph, affectionately known as "Joe Boy", lived fully and loved wholeheartedly, his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Nathaniel and Brian Cooper and two sisters: Isabell Garret and Sadie Johnson.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Ollie Jean Cooper; three sons and one daughter: Joseph Cooper, Jr., Kerby Cooper, Sr., Jeffrey Solomon and Sonyaia Stancil; one daughter-in-law: Phyllis Langley-Cooper, who he loved to laugh and joke with, one son-in-law: Linwood Stancil; He also helped to raise his wife's niece: Lakisha Moore of Maryland; five sisters: twin sister, Martha Benjamin of New York, Addie Lee Moore, Margaret Ann Cooper, both of Washington, DC, Roberta Scott of Enfield, NC and Mable Hedgpeth of Whitakers, NC; two brothers: Nathaniel (Willie Mae) Cooper of Enfield, NC and Clifton (Julia) Cooper of Florida; two sisters-in-law: Barbara (Rev, James Smith) and Rozenoa (Melvin) Brinkley;four brother-in-law: Linwood, Clifford,Warren, and Marion Lynch; twenty-one grandchildren: Avante, Shakira, Joseph, HI, Raheem, Kiana, Kerby, Jr., Deon, O'Kaveon, Zaskya, Jamica, Kianna, Taylor, Curtisha, Lekia, Deonte, Zikon, Alexandria, Stanley, Dexter, Shanese, Nakeem; one great-grandchild: Aja; one special aunt: Maryann Sanders of Maryland; three special friends: Elijah Daughtery, Jerimiah Simmons and Robert Scott; Georgianna Parker, a second mother to him; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
