Joe Wilkins, 72, a native of Enfield, NC, and a longtime resident of Brooklyn, NY passed away December 27, 2006, following a time of illness. Joe was born to Johnnie and Laura Wilkins on November 16, 1934. He attended Eastman High School in Enfield, NC. He also served in the Army. He moved to Richmond, VA and then he moved to Brooklyn, NY where he worked as a mechanic until he retired.
Joe will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him. He had a way of making everyone around him feel special and his smile would melt one's heart.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Laura Wilkins, sisters Velma Hawkins and Laura Mae Wilkins, brothers Ben, Robert and Johnnie (Tee) Wilkins.
Joe leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Ophelia Randolph Wilkins; four daughters, Veronica Wilkins of Far Rockaway, NY, Rev. MaLinda Washington (John) of Newport News, VA, Michelle and Velma Wilkins of Brooklyn, NY and Linda of Germany; three sons, Joe Wilkins, Jr. (Star-Francine) of Ladysmith, VA, Johnnie Wilkins (Lydia) of Richmond, CA, Michael Wilkins (Pamela) of Long Island, NY; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three sisters Geraldine Robinson (Arlington) and Earlene Artist (Bernard) of Richmond, VA, Claudia Crandall of Brooklyn, NY, one brother Waverly Wilkins (Linda) of Enfield, NC; special devoted niece Dorothy W. Robinson and many other special relatives and friends.
