Obituary

James Edward Nealy was born on January 17, 1933 to the late Viola Nealy and Ervin Ricks in Red Oak, North Carolina. He departed this life surrounded by his devoted family on April 19, 2010 at the age of 77. James earned a high school diploma from Nash County Training School in North Carolina. He joined the Air Force at the age of 22. He served overseas tours in England and Thailand. He was stationed at Chanute AFB, IL, McGuire AFB, NJ, Dover AFB, DE, and the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

In 1956, James married his high school sweetheart, Susie Elizabeth Hendricks. To this union was born their four children Linda, Gregory, Beverly, and James Junior.

James was a builder of "togetherness.' He did not build with bricks, cement, or blocks but with faith, patience, love, and infinite care. He built a strong family and did all that he could to provide for them. To his grandchildren he was "Pop-Pop, " to his friend he was "Jim., " and to his wife he was "James. "

Preceding him in death is one daughter, Patricia Henderson. He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, Susie of Dover, DE; his only sister, Bertha Tinsley of Durham, NC; five children, Kenneth Alston (Geraldine) of Enfield, NC; Linda J. Drummer (Charles III) of Newark, DE; Gregory E. Nealy of Wilmington, DE; James E. Nealy Jr. (Marie) of North Charleston, SC; Beverly Santana (Charles) of Magnolia, DE; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Psalms 23:1-4

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green
pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he
leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I
walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art
with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
