Obituary

Ida Marie Price, the youngest child of Monscyco and Mattie Davis, was born on June 15, 1928, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She answered God's call home on July 16, 2025, peacefully at her home with family surrounding her. Ida was affectionately called "Nanny" by her children and grandchildren; as well as "Aunt Ida" and "Cousin Ida" by her many relatives and close friends.

Ida was the youngest of eight siblings. Seven preceded her in death: Robert, Matt, Monscyco, Raymond, Leah, Elizabeth, and Ruth. She was fondly known as "The Last of The Mohicans" of that particular Davis clan. At an early age, Ida gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Plumbline Holiness Church, Enfield, NC She was educated in the Halifax County, NC School System and graduated from Eastman High School, Enfield, NC.

Ida moved to New York City in 1948 and married Cleo Price of Littleton, NC in 1949. From this union there were four children, Cleofus, Lois, Anthony, and Kenneth. The youngest child, Kenneth, and husband, Cleo, preceded her in death. During her working career, Ida was employed by the New York City Board of Education as a school crossing guard then as a loss prevention detective for a major department store. These were occupations she loved until retirement. Ida was an avid sports enthusiast and actively enjoyed watching and attending baseball and basketball events. Her enthusiasm and support fostered a few professional athletes within her immediate and extended family.

Ida was a loving, kind, giving and supportive person. If you needed her, she was there, always willing to lend a hand. Her genuine nurturing abilities also inspired a lineage of multi-generational nursing professionals within her family. She loved cooking, reading daily newspapers, caring for her household, and returning south to host family reunions. Ida was a long-time member of Barnes Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Whitakers, NC, where she fellowshipped and served.

In 2011, Ida returned "down home" with her daughter Lois, to reside full-time in Enfield, NC.

Cherished memories will remain with her eldest son, Cleofus Price (Regina Smith) of New York, NY; daughter, Lois Marie Bunting (James T. Williams, Jr.) of Enfield, NC; and son Anthony Price of Massapequa, NY; seven grandchildren, Damon Young, Nicole Fraser, Timika Bunting, Dorjan (DJ) Price, Anthony (AJ) Jordan Price, Raven Price, and Mia Oliver, as well as their spouses and loved ones; ten great-grandchildren, Naija, Neijae, Nia, Jacey, Ty, Devyn, Alissa, Alia–Ida, Yamilei, and Nyla; two great-great grandchildren, Nova and Nari; one sister-in-law, Gatsyrene Price of Virginia Beach, VA; two first cousins, Geraldine Marrow of Enfield, NC and Claudia Davis-Thomas of  Alexandria, VA; and lastly, a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
