Hubert Reginald Wills, Jr. was the youngest son of the late Hubert Reginald Wills, Sr. and Almyra Pittman Wills. He was bom August 2, 1949 in East Orange, New Jersey.
Reggie, as he was affectionately called, received his education in the East Orange School System. He was an excellent athlete and proud varsity player for the East Orange High School Panthers football team. Upon graduation, Reggie matriculated at Strayer University in Washington, D.C. After college, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Once honorably discharged from the service, he attended trade school and later became employed with the Sheet Metal Workers of America.
Reggie was united in Holy Matrimony to his college sweetheart, Anita Delores Miller on April 9, 1977. To this union, they were blessed with two beautiful children, Hubert Reginald Wills, III and Lauryn Renae Wills, whom he deeply loved and adoringly referred to as his "Pride".
After relocating to North Carolina, Reggie was employed at Consolidated Diesel Company, and later became employed at Abbot Laboratories, where he met Sarah Staton, with whom he shared a special companionship. Sarah faithfully remained by his side throughout his illness.
Reggie was a wonderful friend and loving father. In his younger years, he was certain to be the life of the party, and his charismatic character and intellect captivated all those who knew him. And as we all know, he was always meticulous when it came to his appearance. Without a doubt, Reggie enjoyed life and nature, which was exhibited through his love of art, photography, and music, especially jazz. One of his greatest enjoyments was spending summer days relaxing at the Jersey Shore.
With his precious daughter, Lauryn at his side, God called our beloved father and friend from the labors of this world to everlasting peace on Wednesday, December 13, 2006. Reggie was predeceased by his brother Carlos, his mother Almyra, and father Hubert Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his beloved children: Hubert, III, and Lauryn; former wife: Anita; mother-in-law: Willia Miller; sisters-in-law: Nettie Wills and Kim Miller; brother-in-law: Herbert Miller, Jr.; niece: Tracy Wills Bailey; great nieces: Daaiyah and lyanah Bailey; aunts: Geraldine Pittman Clark, Viola Pittman Boone, Maczine Wills Carpenter, Helen Wills Knight, and Marie Wills Sykes; uncles: James Boone, Douglas Boone, and Lloyd Sykes; special friend and confidante, Sarah Staton; as well as a host of loving cousins and cherished friends.
