Mr. Harry Peterson was born on April 17, 1921 to the late Ernest Peterson and Carrie Wade, however raised by Mr. David Sanders in Halifax County North Carolina. He slept peacefully into the realm of eternal life on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount, NC.

Harry joined the Daniels Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Halifax County Public Schools until he began working as a day laborer on the farm in his teenage years in the late 30's. He began share-cropping in the early 50's to the late 60's. He also worked in construction, assisting with the building of a coliseum in Richmond, Va. He spent the last 15 plus years of his employment with Georgia Pacific in Enfield, NC until his retirement at the age of 65 due to his failing health. He was an avid gardener, enjoying his time spent working the garden with his wife.

Harry was married to Lenora Bryant on February 3, 1949. To this union one daughter was born, Darcelia Peterson (preceding him in death). He was the youngest of five siblings: two brothers Daniel and Lonnie Peterson and two sisters Mamie Taylor and Queen Barnes (all preceding him in death).

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving, devoted wife of 58 years, Mrs. Lenora Peterson, two grandchildren Kimberly Peterson of Enfield, NC and Gregory Peterson of Washington, DC (both raised by Harry and Lenora from 1 and 2 years of age until their adulthood, 4 great grandchildren Sherard and Kierra Peterson of Enfield, NC and Giselle and Jeffrey Zuniga of Washington, DC, one niece Lucille Gorgins, one nephew Alphonso Barnes, and a host of grand nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to recognize his long-time friend, Mr. Andrew 'Boss-man' Best of New Carrollton, MD.
