Age 95, passed Oct. 17, 2019. Funeral service will be held Saturday Oct. 26, 2019 1PM at New Bethel Baptist Church in Enfield. A public viewing will be held Friday 5-7PM at Lea & Pope Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cedarview cemetery.

Mother Gladys Hunter Pierce daughter of the late Jasper and Frances Hunter was born March 31, 1924 in Halifax County, North Carolina. She peacefully departed from us on Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She joined New Bethel Baptist Church at an early age, where she remained a faithful member throughout her life.

During her lifetime, she worked at Suburban Hospital, Anchor's and ultimately retired after working at a factory.

Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Ivery Pierce, and her two daughters, Leatha Steele (Allen) and Mary McMillian (Alvin). She also was predeceased by her 5 brothers and 8 sisters. She cherished and leave one child behind, Ulysses Pierce of Capitol Heights, MD; 13 grandchildren, Debra, Angela, Tamara, Camille, Senoria, Patricia, Sharon, Tina, Kevin, Lartane, Lakeytha, Antawn, and Charnika; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great- grandchildren; and her sister, Bernice Taylor of Raleigh, NC. She will especially be missed by her great-grandchildren that she helped raise, Travis, Ikea, Jasmine, Justice, Jordan, and Russell. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

She slipped away without a farewell; she said goodbye to no one. Her willing hands could work no more, her work on earth was done.
