Garnesy Luther Hardy, son of the late Whit and Annie Hardy, was born on July 2, 1931 in Halifax County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Tuesday,
December 30, 2008 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Roanoke
Rapids, North Carolina.
Garnesy attended Halifax County Public Schools graduating from the former Eastman High School. He furthered his education at A&T State University majoring in Agriculture. He served three years in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was employed with the Nash Brick Company as a truck driver for over forty years. After retiring, Garnesy spent his time watching sports on television and conversing with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister: Christine Hardy; and four brothers: James, George, Jessie and Copeland Hardy.
Garnesy leaves to cherish his smiles, laughter, and memories, his wife: Earline Lee Hardy; one daughter: Sandra Hardy and two sons: Nathan and Timothy Hardy, all of the home; two sisters: Marie Wilkins of Enfield, NC and Marilyn Wilkins of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren: Marvin Whitaker and Tracy Hardy; two great¬grandchildren: Nyeshia and Alexis Whitaker; two sisters-in-law: Claudine Evans of Enfield, NC and Veronica Lodge of Wilson, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
