Mother Ethel Fenner, daughter of the late Joseph and Sallie McTootle was born in Halifax County on April 12, 1928. She was called to rest on February 25,2007 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Her elementary school years were spent at the Albert Tillery School. She graduated from Brawley High School. Her educational goals continued at Halifax Community College.
She was a faithful member of Crowell Baptist Church for approximately 70 years. She served as a Senior Choir Member for approximately 40 years. On February 11, 2007, Mother Fenner officially retired as the Church Secretary after 54 years of dedicated service. A beautiful church retirement celebration was given in her honor.
She was married to the late Deacon Clarence Fenner for 52 years; they dated for 13 years. Deacon Fenner preceded her in death on June 23, 2004.
Mother Fenner was employed by at the Halifax County School System for 28 years. She retired due to health reasons.
