Ernestine Smith Bandy was Born July I5, 1938 to the late Edward Smith and Burlie Bell Hill. She departed life on July 31, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Except for a few years in New York, she lived the majority of her life in Enfield, North Carolina where she was born. She received her education at Inborden High School.
Ernestine was a very caring person and a loyal friend. She wasn't hesitant about speaking her mind and that is what many-people loved about her. She was also blessed with a truly great sense of humor.
She loved her family. She as the hardworking mother of ten children of which two Johnny (Debra) and Ricky Smith preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Mary Louise Fludd and nephew, Winston Hill.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Patricia Tann (Morris), Mildred Bandy, and Debra Hill (Ronald) of Enfield, NC. Phyllis Lewis (Jamie) of Rocky Mount, NC. Four sons, Edward (Bandy, Donald Bandy (Jacqueline) and Wayne Bandy of Enfield, NC. Phillip Bandy (Lucille) of Rocky Mount, NC. One nephew, Herman Hill, of Brooklyn, NY. Twenty four grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Also a very special friend,Elijah (Charlie) Bunn of the home.
