Ella Mae Robinson was born in Hollister, NC on September 7,
1919, to the late Wesley and Ella Richardson. On the morning of Friday, February 11, 2011, she departed this quiet and earthly life at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.
She was educated in the Halifax County School System. She was a seamstress for thirteen years at Enfield Apparel. She was also a homemaker who loved to cook for her family.
She joined Pine Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member there until her death.
She was a devoted wife to the late Newell W. Robinson for sixty-four years. From this union thirteen children were born: nine boys and four girls. They also reared two grandchildren, Barbara Robinson Whitaker and Kenneth Robinson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Luther and John Wesley; three brothers, Jessie, John, and Bennie; one sister, Blanche; three sons-in-law, Matthew Pinckney, Aaron Lee, and Willie Simmons; and one daughter-in-law, Betty Robinson.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Charles Robinson and wife, Lelia of Roanoke, VA; Russell Robinson of Enfield, NC; Ruby Pinckney of New York, NY; Nancy R Whitaker of Enfield, NC; Leroy Robinson and wife, Vivian of Enfield, NC; Annette R. Simmons of Littleton, NC; Harry Robinson of Enfield, NC; Julian Robinson and wife, Lucille of Gaston, NC; Julius Robinson and wife, Elizabeth of New Carrollton, MD; Matthew Robinson of Enfield, NC; and Christine R. Lee of Enfield, NC; thirty-one grandchildren, forty great-grand children, three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Lynch of Enfield, NC and Levonia Richardson of Hollister, NC; one brother, Clarence "Bob" Richardson of Hollister; three adopted children, Dollie Dennis, Hazel Moore, and Dollie Hendricks; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear friends.
