A visitation will be held Tuesday Feb. 23, 2021 at Lea & Pope Funeral Home Chapel 5-7 pm. A Graveside services will be held Wed. Feb. 24, 2021, at Greater St. Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. At 11:00 a.m.

OBITUARY

Mother Dorothy Lillian Perkins Hunter was born November 15, 1938 in Albany County, New York to the late Thelma Brinson and Charlie Perkins.

Dorothy received her education from Halifax County Public Schools.  Dorothy was a hard-working mother. She married Sidney Hunter and was blessed with 9 children.

If you have ever met Dorothy, you were able to say she was a woman of God. She loved talking about Jesus. Dorothy loved her family and just people in general. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with the Lord. She joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age, and she later joined Greater St. Chapel Church where she was a faithfully member until her death.

Dorothy has joined her parents Charlie and Thelma Perkins, her husband Sidney Pete Hunter (Daughter) Verna Mae Hunter, Brothers Bobby Perkinsand Fredrick Perkins.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories with 4 sons: Sidney Hunter of Enfield, NC; Jerry Hunter (Daisy) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Johnnie Hunter of the Home; Mack Donald Hunter (Tayndra) of Bakersfield, CA.  four daughters:  Thelma Bryant of Enfield, NC; Ruby Daniel (John) of Enfield, NC ;  Gleen Gary (Mike) of Rocky Mount, NC;  Theresa Pinkett (Johnathon) of Chestertown, MD; Twenty-three grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren;  (Sisters) Devida Perkins of Newark,  NJ; Diane Sanders of Enfield, NC, (Special Friend) Bertha Jones of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close people that she holds dear to her heart.
