Dorothy Mae Hill Edwards, daughter of the late Maude Lee Moore Hill and Neda Hill, Sr. was born in Halifax County, North Carolina on July 7, 1943. She departed this earthly life on Monday, September 22, 2025 at her home.
Dorothy Mae Hill Edwards received her education from the Halifax County Public School System. She was a member of Light of Peace Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Dorothy was married to the late Russell Lee Edwards for twenty-six years. She was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and friend to all. She believed in family and friends supporting each other and loved her family. Dorothy dedicated her life to her family, always there with a listening ear, warm embrace, and endless support. She loved bringing people together with her cooking ad had an eye for style when she was out shopping.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Robert, Cornelius, Neda Hill, Jr., and Willie Mack.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, her sister, Betty Arrington (Larry) of Enfield, NC; three sons, Charles Hill (Deborah) of Rocky Mount, NC, Ronald Hill (Joan) of Maryland and Tony Hill of Rocky Mount, NC; five grandchildren, Preshenda of Weldon, NC, Charles Hill (Madison) of Durham, NC, Ronald Jr. of Virginia, Ashley of Rocky Mount, NC, and Valencia of Zebulon, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 6734 Thirteen Bridges Road, Enfield, North Carolina. Burial followed in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 248 Meyer Street, Enfield, North Carolina. A Public Viewing was held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the chapel of Lea and Pope Funeral Home, 215 S. McDaniel Street, Enfield, North Carolina.
