Curtis C. Williams "Duke",the son of the late Cicero and Mary Brooks Williams, was born in Halifax County, North Carolina on October 2, 1934. He departed this life on August 31, 2009 at his home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Duke received his education through the Halifax County Public School System. He lived and worked in Richmond, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina. He retired from McJunkin Corporation as a truck driver before moving to Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Duke enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a people's person who enjoyed the smile and laughter of others. Duke was a kind-hearted person who had a great sense of humor, and was always willing to help others.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Vertis Williams, Harry Williams, and Herman Williams.
He is survived by five children: James C, Mary D, Cicero, Eric L, and Monica E. Williams, all of Richmond, VA; three brothers and two sisters: Joseph Williams of Phoenix, MD, Jessie B. Williams (Linda) of Greensboro, NC, Larry Williams of Enfield, NC, Nina Mae Williams Swann (Jerry Swann) of Clinton, MD and Gloria Dean Cromwell of Rocky Mount, NC; eight grandchildren: Curtis Williams, Corde' Hodges, Sr., Cicero A. Williams, Larrell Richardson, Erica K. Williams, Lamont Gordon, Eric L. Williams, Jr. and Kevin M. Brown, Jr., all of Richmond, Va; four great¬grandchildren: Shaniya Williams, Zh'nae Hairston, Curshana Williams and Corde' Hodges, Jr., all of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
