OBITUARY

Clevy Pittman (Poppy) was born February 7 th , 1935 in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Doretha Pittman & Lonnie Vick.

Clevy attended Inborden High School where he was a star athlete, playing on his school's basketball as well as baseball teams. While a student at Inborden he met the former Claytee Lee. After a few years of courting, they relocated to Brooklyn NY and married in the late 1950s, which followed with three children, Arnetta Lee, Renee Pittman & Beverly Pittman.

Clevy worked as a porter at Greenpoint and Woodhull Hospitals in NY for 40+years, until he retired. After the passing of Claytee he moved back to his childhood/ hometown of Enfield, NC. Upon returning home he rekindled his childhood high school romance with Marie D. Pittman, and they went on to marry in February 2000. Their life together included many trips throughout the U.S. and abroad. After attending Mt Camel Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY he later attended First Baptist Church in Enfield.

Clevy loved his family and always found joy in spending time with them. We will always remember and be forever grateful for his love, his guidance, his laugh and his legacy. He leaves to cherish his memory, in love his wife Marie, his three children Arnetta Lee, Renee Pittman, Beverly Pittman, and his two grandchildren Ashley J. Pittman and Taru M. Thompson. Poppy also leaves behind his relationship with his step-children (Milton Pittman, Doris Bonaparte, Elmarie Pittman and Kenneth Pittman) & two step-grandchildren, (Maurice Barfield and Justin Bonaparte).

"Poppy" was truly a beautiful man inside and out, a true gentleman, a snazzy dresser and a family man. He will sorely be missed by everyone he came in contact with. Poppy was a guide and role model to many.
