Obituary
Claytee Sanders Armstrong Joyner, daughter of the late Herman Sanders and late Bertha Wilkins Sanders Scott, was born on July 25, 1940 in Halifax County, NC. She departed this earthly life and made her heavenly flight on Sunday, September 19, 2010 around 9 am at Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion Center in Durham, NC.
Claytee Received her education at Hardywee Elementary, Eden Elementary, and Inborden High School. She became a member of Plumbline United Holy Church at an early age. She was a member of the choir, a missionary, and an usher. She remained an active and faithful member until her health began to fail her.
In October of 1956 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late James Albert Armstrong, to this union 4 children were born.
Claytee worked as a seamstress at Jayvee Brand, Inc. and May Appereal. She also worked as kitchen manager at Atlantis Seafood. At the Age of 65, she decided to go back to school to become a Certified Nurses Assistant. She worked as a Personal Care Aid taking care of her husband, Albert and other people in the community until she fell ill.
A woman of many skills, Claytee enjoyed playing softball, making clothes for her family and most of all cooking. She also loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was also proceeded in death by five brothers: James Herman Sanders, Nathaniel Scott, Robert Lee Scott, Johnny Scott, and Eugene Scott. Three Sisters: Mildered (Jeremiah) Lee, Modie Bell (Ray) Carmier & Willie Mae (Chester) Brinkley. One Step-grandson, Jamir Whitaker.
She leaves to mourn and cherish many memories, her loving husband, Albert Joyner of the home. Two Sons: James (Torsha) Armstrong and Joseph Armstrong, both of Roselle, NJ. Two Daughters: Nechell Silver, of the home, and Cassandra (Wilbert, Jr.) Silver, of Whitakers, NC. Two Step-children: Eric (Felicia) Whitaker, and Travis Howington, both of Enfield, NC. Four Sisters: Verna Bell of Badin, NC; Helen (Milton) Williams of Newport News, VA; Doris Broaddus of Rockville, MD; Loretta (Jeffrey) Richardson of Rocky Mount, NC. Six Brothers: L.W. (Florine) Scott of Dover, DE; Wilbert (Mamie) Scott of Enfield, NC; Clayton (Martha) Sanders fo Roselle, NJ; Levi (Dianne) Scott of Enfield, NC; John (Deborah) Scott of Alexandria, LA; Darry (Melissa) Scott of Lincolnton, NC. Nine Sister-in-laws: Ozzie Sanders, Louise Scott, Cassie
Scott, Ethel Scott, Louveire (Jimmy) Marby, Sarah (Horrest) Green, Mamie Taylor, Rodie Joyner & Leyann. Three Brother-in-laws: Johnny (Mary) Joyner, Jeremiah (Cleatric) Joyner & James (Bernice) Norman. Seven Grandchildren: Watrina & Claytea of Bronx, NY, Liset of Enfield, NC, James II of Roselle, NJ, Wilbert III & Soumya of Whitakers, NC; Barry of Wilmington, DE. Five Great-grandchildren. A Grandmother; Curtee Daniels. A Great Aunt; Elouise Sanders. Two Godchildren; John Lloyd Scott, Jr. and Juanita Jones. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of Loving Family & Friends.
