Arthur Westley Carroll was born September 8, 1934 in Halifax County to the late Washington Carroll and Betty Allen-Carroll. On November 29, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC, he peacefully departed this life to go home and be with the Lord.
Arthur affectionately known to family and friends as "Buster" received his education through the public school system in Halifax County. He joined the White Oak Baptist Church at an early age. Before retiring in 1993, he was employed with the Quality Forrest Lumber Company in Enfield, NC
In 1958, he married the love of his life, Mary Louise Wright, which he called "Lou" and to this beautiful union four children were born. He was a devoted father, husband, brother and grandfather who loved his family and his family loved him. All will miss him dearly. His sister Collie V. Carroll preceded Arthur in death.
He leaves not to mourn his loss but to cherish his memories his wife for forty-nine years, Mary Carroll of the home;two sisters:Hargie Carroll, Rocky Mount, NC and Beulah Hankins, Brooklyn, NY; three beautiful daughters: Phyllis Twanda (James) Whitaker, Rocky Mount, NC, Gwendolyn U'Nice Whitaker, Norfolk, VA and Felicia Annette Carroll of the home (devoted friend Alvin Whitaker, Rocky Mount, NC); One son, Condrad Wayne (Alvetta) Carroll, Enfield, NC; two devoted and loving grandsons he reared, Gary and Wesley Carroll of the home, one nephew:Jeffery Carroll of Brooklyn, NY; three grandsons, Carresian (Shanelle) Whitaker, Marquay Whitaker and Willie . Stevenson; three granddaughters: Deneshia (Derrick) DeLapaz, Mar'Keyla Whitaker and Deirda Stevenson; one great-granddaughter, Danayzja DeLapaz; two great-grandsons, Derrick DeLapaz and Carresian Whitaker; five sisters-in-law, Catherine (Garfield) Shirley, Norfolk, V A, Fannie Smith, Geraldine Wright, Philadelphia, PA, Avleen Wright, Enfield, NC and Tabytha Wright, Norfolk, VA; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Humphrey, Rocky Mount, NC and Herman Arrington, Norfolk, VA; two precious jewels, Valerie Burstion of Fredricksburg, V A and Jacquline Humphrey, Rocky Mount, NC; one adopted daughter, Cynthia King, Battleboro, NC; a long life-time friend, Roosevelt (Celestine) Jones, Enfield, NC, one porch buddy, Garnesy Hardy, Enfield, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
