HOMEGOING CELEBRATION

MOTHER SADIE AMELIA OSBORNE
Sadie Amelia Jones Osborne, daughter of the late James Donnie and Salina Smith Jones was born on November 20, 1918 in Johnson County, N.C. She departed this life on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Rex Hospital.
She began her education in the Johnston County School System and graduated from Washington High School in Raleigh, N.C. She retired from the Wake County Public School System. During her service with Wake County Public Schools she was recognized on numerous occasions as an award winning baker.
Amelia was not a charter member but she witnessed the beginning of Smith Temple Free Will Baptist Church. She became a member and was very active in many Auxiliaries of the Church including: President and Secretary of the Gospel Chorus, Church Treasurer for over forty years, YPCL local President, President of the Busy Bee club. She taught the Junior Sunday school class, and was also a member of the Senior Choir.
Amelia met and was united in holy matrimony to Samuel Al Lee Osborne on November 2,1939. He preceded her in death. She was one of eight siblings. She was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers: Mable, Lovie, Wiser, Willa Mae, Alphonza, Tom, Johnny and Donnie.
She leaves to mourn her loss four sons: James Thomas (Gloria) of East Orange, New Jersey, Barney, Samuel Al Lee, Jr., Christopher Cazarrieo (Gloria), all of Raleigh, N.C. and one adopted son, William C Smith Jr. of Georgetown, Delaware. Ten grandchildren, eighteen great grand children and two great-great grandchildren. Four special nieces, Bettie Ward, Vinnie Trice, Andria Bridges, Jean Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
